Odinga said his push for national dialogue should not be taken that he is ‘’thirsty for power’’ but want issues which currently affect Kenyans addressed.
“I want these pertinent issues like insecurity, high cost of living, unemployment, land and corruption to be dealt with. I am not a power hungry person and those who think that I want power are totally missing the point,” Raila said.
He added Kenyans cannot continue to wait for another five years so that the challenges they are currently facing are solved.
“If we deal with these issues now through national dialogue Kenyans will live in harmony,” he said.
Raila was addressing a rally at Ntulele Primary School in Narok County on Saturday.
He was accompanied by senators Moses Wetangula (Bungoma),James Orengo (Siaya),Bony Khalwale(Kakamega),Omar Hassan (Mombasa), Johnstone Muthama(Machakos),Otieno Kajwang(Homa Bay), Elizabeth Ongoro(Nominated) ,MPs Subra(Embakasi South) and Ken Obura(Kibra).
Odinga noted that the security of the country is “rotten” to a point that they cannot continue to keep quiet and watching as Kenyans die without clear reasons.
“Even cabinet secretary Joseph ole Lenku is not in a position to salvage it because it needs a total overhaul. The President, who is the commander-in-chief of the defence forces, need to implement national security sector reforms which was started during the former regime,” he said.
The former prime minister urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to fully implement the report by the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission.
“It is only through the release and implementation of the report that injustices done to Kenyans can be rectified,” said Raila.
Wetangula said if the Jubilee administration will continue to ignore their pleas to talk with Cord leaders, they will mobilise Kenyans for saba saba day.
Khalwale accused the Former President Daniel arap Moi of misleading President Kenyatta which he told him to oppose the national dialogue during a burial of former chief of General staff Jackson Mulinge on Saturday.
“If the president is relying on advice such of Moi, then he is heading to the wrong direction. Moi is now an old man and cannot think anymore,” said Khalwale.
