Principal Officer - Innovation

In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:-
Reporting to the Head of Department-Innovation, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the innovation pipeline development, launching the innovations (bringing innovations to life) in liaison with the stakeholders in the various SBUs and handling specific idea generation initiatives.
The key responsibilities will be to:-
Develop and maintain a current Innovation roadmap within the Innovation portfolio;
Liaise with relevant stakeholders in determining project goals and or innovation deliverables so as to meet stakeholder expectations;
Ensure planned projects are delivered in a timely manner through the approved gate process.
Liaise with stakeholders in developing a formal and comprehensive project plan by integrating and documenting project deliverables, acceptance criteria, processes, procedures, risks, and tasks to facilitate project executing, controlling, and closing processes.
Manage project progress by ensuring that activities are executed as planned in order to achieve the project objectives.
Reassess project control plans by scheduling periodic reviews in order to ensure their effectiveness and currency.
Manage relationships with all External and internal functions and establish a good working relationships that facilitate delivery of sectional objectives within SLA
Provide scheduled Innovation roadmap pipeline reports - Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to stakeholders
Provide timely and concise Idea Lifecycle Management for specific Innovation initiatives that are different from Business As Usual (from Idea Submission, First Level Screening, Vetting and Scoring by Innovation Forum all the way to Launch, Reward and Recognition) as per SLA, with feedback at all stages to Ideators.
Develop and execute in liaison with Corporate Affairs an effective internal and external annual PR and Communication plan relating to activities within this docket
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Statistics or IT fields from a recognized university
Minimum of 1-2 years within a similar role.
Excellent project management skills;
Experience in managing multiple projects (6 – 12 month duration) simultaneously from start to finish, which have impact across a company, customers and on the revenue generation capability of the organization;
Proficiency in MS Office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint , MS project) intermediary proficiency
Proven track record of developing partnerships for innovation
Multinational Experience – working with multinational clients/vendors or at a Group level
Good financial knowledge – able to develop solid business cases.
A highly motivated person with a positive attitude towards work.
Innovative, creative, results oriented with excellent analytical skills;
A proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Senior Manager - Innovation

In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:-
Reporting to the Head of Department-Innovation, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the Corporate National / Multi-national and Vodafone Partnerships from an Innovation perspective.
This will involve fully understanding what innovations are being developed by various suppliers / potential partners and how these can be developed into solutions for our customers.
It involves but is not limited to innovation co-creation with Corporates, Multinationals, Vodafone Group and Vodafone OpCos.
The key responsibilities will be to:-
Define strategic innovation partnerships and relationships with Corporates, Multinationals, Vodafone Group and Vodafone OpCos to achieve Mature and BlueSky Innovation relevant to Safaricom’s Strategy and Vision;
To develop and maintain a current Innovation roadmap within the portfolio;
Identify synergies with other Safaricom Business Units within this space and align accordingly in line with the business needs;
Ensure planned projects are delivered in a timely manner through the approved gate process;
Document and ensure approval of the Product & Innovation Description and Business Case (Business requirements);
Ensure that projects expenditure within approved CAPEX and Liaise with Technology to ensure timely delivery of Garage deliverables;
Define and structure the framework of Leveraging Resources /Strategic Assets (Technology Nodes and Touch points e.g. Call Centre, Shops, EBU Partners), Global Trends, Emerging Technologies & Competitor Intelligence as well as understand Consumer Behaviour and Needs (BI/BA/Market Research) to develop innovative products;
Prepare reports as required and undertake other duties as may be assigned;
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or a Technical field – Engineering or Information Technology from a recognized university.
At least 7 years work experience in the Telecoms/ICT space, with 3 years in product development/project management in a telecommunications environment and 2 years at line management or senior level.
Multinational Experience – working with multinational clients/vendors or at a Group level
Excellent project management skills.
Experience in end to end management of multiple & simultaneous projects of 6 – 12 months duration and which have impact across a company, customers and on the revenue generation capability of the organization.
Good financial knowledge – able to develop solid business cases.
A highly motivated person with a positive attitude towards work.
Innovative, creative, results oriented with excellent analytical skills;
A proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
