The Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo, has confirmed that they have arrested a man who has been operating social media accounts purportedly used by Al Shabaab
In a briefstatement on Wednesday, Kimaiyo said the police swung into action and arrested
the owner and driver of the vehicle that was used to ferry terrorists to Mpeketoni on Sunday. Also
in police custody is a suspect who was operating social media accounts purportedly used by Al Shabaab to claim responsibility. Kimaiyo urged Kenyans to be patient and police
will soon nail the real perpetrators of the Sunday night attack in Mpeketoni where over 68 people died and dozens injured. The IG also exonerated Al Shabaab from the Sunday incident saying the man who was tweeting as Al Shabaab is a Kenyan and he has been arrested and is helping police with more information. He said the police triangulated and pin-pointed the man's  IP address and then arrested him with several laptops and other communication devices.
