Coordinated attacks in Wajir and Mandera early on Friday morning left a watchman in Mandera injured. Armed assailants attacked the Kenya Power Company’s plants in Wajir and Mandera inflicting serious damage in the Wajir plant. Kenya power officials say they lost at least 300,000 litres of diesel during the attack in which the attackers used rocket-propelled grenades to target a fuel tank within the Kenya Power plant. In Mandera a local NGOs premises was also attacked leaving the watchman injured. Police managed to gun down two of the attackers. The attackers also hit the Somalia border town of Bulahawa. Where explosions were heard. Senior security, county and government officials visited the Kenya Power plant to assess the extent of damage in Wajir. The damaged fuel tank had caused massive leakage which affected adjacent residential estates
