Nairobi county workers are on Wednesday set to participate in an industrial action parade in protest against the county government's failure to honour a pay agreement negotiated on August 12.
The agreement includes payment of three months' salary arrears that were to be cleared between October and December.
"Now that we are just on the verge of mid November, it is evident that the county government has reneged on its part of the bargain or is simply unwilling to fulfill the rights of the workers.
"In these circumstances, the union representatives are left with no option but to resort to the only lawful avenue of mobilizing the members to a parade," workers' union secretary Festus Ngari said in a statement on Monday.
The union announced that the workers will converge at City Hall for the protest that will continue until the county honours the agreement.
County workers went on strike in September 2013, paralysing services across the city, but the strike ended following the signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Nairobi county government.
