According to the proposed Kiambu County Finance bill, the license will be Kshs. 1000 each while the application for a pig products license will be Kshs.350.
The bill also proposes that the movement permit for dogs, cats and poultry be charged Kshs. 200 per consignment, pigs Kshs. 500, over 100 sheep/goats for Kshs. 1000, less than 50 sheep/goats for Kshs. 500, 1 - 20 cattle Kshs. 200, 21 - 50 cattle Kshs. 1,000 and over 50 cattle Kshs. 1000 per consignment.
The County government has also introduced fees for students who will be seeking medical services attachments.
An attaché from Action Aid will pay Kshs. 7,000, a masters student Kshs. 5000, Bachelor of Nursing student Kshs. 2000, Diploma in Clinical Medicine student Kshs. 5000, Lab attachment Kshs. 2000, Records and other attachment Kshs. 2000 each.
Patients will be charged Kshs. 250 for bed per day while a tetanus injection will cost Kshs. 100.
Casualty emergency drugs will however be free of charge.
A simple tooth extraction will be charged Kshs. 200 and a tooth implantation will go for Kshs. 1000.
Medical examination will be charged Kshs. 500, a pap smear Kshs. 400 and a pregnancy test Ksh. 200.
According to Witeithie Ward MCA Peter Ngugi Muiruri most of these charges have been in existence during the former local government system but were not being implemented.
He said that some of the charges reflected in the proposed financial bill were even lower or equal to those charged by the local authorities.
The finance bill is looking for Kshs. 12 billion to enable the county government deliver services.
