The bodies were recovered by fellow students on Tuesday afternoon.
It took the efforts of ten students, members of staff from the university and a special diver from Naivasha to retrieve the bodies.
The bodies were found in the deep waters of the river as other university students gathered at the shores to witness the exercise.
The Kenya Police and the Red Cross were also present at the site.
Narok North OCPD Paul Letting lauded the efforts of the students and staff and cautioned those hosting picnics at the site to inform security officials of their events.
Letting said that it was important for people to be careful while taking photos at the river.
Christopher Kemboi, a staff at the univerity who led the rescue operation said the rescue team did not sleep.
