The "Pills n Potions" hitmaker claims she didn't mean to offend the Australian rapper at the BET Awards on Sunday night by stressing that she writes all her own material, and was merely trying to encourage more female artists to put pen to paper.
The 31-year-old "Starships" rapper wrote on Twitter today: "I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us! I believe we're smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I've been saying this for 5 YEARS (sic)."
FAN WARS
While accepting her award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the ceremony, Nicki appeared to make an apparent slight against her fellow nominee Iggy for not writing her own music.
She said: "My point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj, is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it. No shade."
But she insists she doesn't consider Iggy a rival and is a fan of her track "Fancy."
She tweeted: "I've congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud. That will never change my desire to motivate women to write. Our voices have to be heard. I hope I inspire up & coming females to do that (sic)."
Iggy previously hit back at Nicki's fans after they bombarded her with a stream of negative comments on Twitter.
The 23-year-old performer tweeted last month: "Just remember while your all at home online cracking jokes about artists etc. that Most of you have done NOTHING. NOTHING! With your lives (sic)."
She added: "Fan wars back and forth and all that s**t is all bulls**t.
"Someone who's music you love doing great should never be an excuse to be awful to others. That's my point I suppose. I just find it really disgusting."
